EKS DAY - September 25, 2010

Nearly a year has passed since Special Olympics lost its founder and life long advocate for people with intellectual disabilities, Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Her unrelenting indomitable spirit proved that one person could make a difference and change the world. Still her vision and legacy lives on, as Special Olympics New York now proudly serves more than 48,000 athletes throughout the state. As we continue to uphold the values and commitment that Eunice devoted her life to, we are proud to announce and celebrate Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day (EKS Day), September 25, 2010. [ continued ]

New York State Rental Dealers Association Begins Fundraiser in Stores for Special Olympics
The Sponsor-an-Athlete program kicks-off August 30th in over 250 member stores throughout New York State.
The program is simple – rental store customers purchase a Torch Icon from August 30th through September 25th to help Sponsor-an-Athlete. Customers, who donate $1, $3 or $5, receive a paper torch icon which they can write their name on and have posted in the store. [ continued ]
