Become an Athlete

Special Olympics training and competition is open to every person with intellectual disabilities who is at least 8 years old and who registers to participate in Special Olympics as required.

All applicants must conform to the outlines noted below, Age requirement, Intellectual Disabilities identification, Degree of Disability, and Handicaps. Please review the requirements here.

How do I Join?

Contact the Special Olympics New York office at 800-836-6976 or fill out this email form below .

They will then provide you with the necessary information, forms and a contact name for the Region who will, in turn, help you join the program.
